The Tradition Continues...59th Mobile Piano Ensemble Scheduled

This year's concert will be
Saturday evening, October 23 and
Sunday afternoon, October 24.

The Mobile Piano Ensemble is supported entirely by contributions of music-lovers.

The 2008 concert was professionally video-taped, and for a donation of at least $25 you will receive a DVD of the 2008 Concert for FREE.


Meet Our 2010 Concerto Soloist

Daniel Driskell

Daniel G. Driskell is a pianist and teacher who enjoys a variety of styles including classical, jazz, sacred, and popular music. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the University of South Alabama and completed his Master's degree in piano performance and pedagogy at Florida State University. His research has been in the subject of American shaped note music and the seven shapes developed by J.B. Aiken. He has also focused on piano pedagogy and the summer options for piano teachers.

In addition to teaching piano class at the University of South Alabama, he teaches music appreciation at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Elementary school music at Government Street Baptist School. Mr. Driskell also teaches piano and guitar lessons at Christ United Methodist Church and Government Street Baptist Church. He enjoys playing music for theater performances and special events as well as spending time with his family. For more information visit his website: danieldriskell.com


2010 Duo Artists

Tracy Mank

Tracy Mank is a native of the Birmingham area where she studied piano with Dr. Witold Turkiewicz. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she received a B.A. in History and English and a M. Ed. in Secondary Education. She has studied piano with Dr. Robert Holm at the University of South Alabama and is now in her seventh year as choral director and piano lab instructor at UMS-Wright Preparatory School. Her choirs at UMS-Wright have consistently received superior ratings and select ensemble recently performed at Carnegie Hall.

Tracy is married to Daniel Mank, and together they have three daughters Michelle, Katy and Anna. She is a member of the Alabama Vocal Association, American Choral Directors’ Association and the Mobile Music Teachers’ Association.. She is also a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

 

Bob Holm

Robert Holm is Professor of Music at the University of South Alabama, where he teaches piano, directs piano ensemble and serves as faculty pianist for the Musical Arts Series. Recently added to the roster of Steinway Artists in Spring 2010, Holm is past president of the Mobile Music Teachers Association, principal pianist for the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and at Dauphin Way Baptist Church.

Holm began playing the piano at age five and later studied at the University of Illinois School of Music with Professor Kenneth Drake, where, in 1999, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature. He was a semi-finalist at the 4th International Adilia Alieva Competition (2004) in Gaillard, France, a finalist at both the 2003 International Franz Liszt Competition in Grottammare, Italy and the 2002 International Bartók-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev Competition in Radford, Virginia, and Third Prize winner at the 1997 International Beethoven Piano Sonata Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. click here for complete bio
