Lindsey Hughes, a native of Mobile, began playing the piano at the age of 12. During her early years of study, she was named a state winner twice in the AMTA annual piano auditions. She has also won first place numerous times in the Mobile Sonata Contest and the MMTA Scholarship Auditions.
In 2003, Lindsey was awarded music and academic scholarships at the University of South Alabama. In 2007, she received the John W. Laidlaw Scholarship, an additional award reserved for outstanding music majors.
While attending the University of South Alabama, Lindsey developed an interest in accompanying. She had the opportunity to play for opera theatre, concert choir, and many other vocal and instrumental music majors. She also served as a church pianist.
Lindsey graduated from USA this spring with a B.M. in piano performance. During the summer, she served on the faculty of the USA Piano Camp. Lindsey currently attends Louisiana State University, where she was awarded an assistantship. Choosing to pursue her interest in accompanying, Lindsey is working toward a master's degree in collaborative piano. She also teaches piano through the LSU Music Academy.
